When to plant

  • Start seeds indoors about 4 weeks before planting out.
  • Plant outdoors about 2 weeks after your average last spring frost.
  • Ready to harvest about 145 days after planting out.

Photoperiod: grows leaves all summer and flowers when nights get long, so it is ready in fall no matter when you plant. Regular seed is about half male: pull males when they show pollen sacs if you want seedless flower. Can reach 6+ ft; top or train it to keep it lower. Estimate is dried flower.

Frost dates depend on where you live. Enter your ZIP code to get exact dates.
